2025-2026 Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience (MWEE) Teacher Training - Remote/Virtual (STEM)
Section: SCI20260001This course is offered through the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to help empower teachers to build project-based, community connected units that connect existing learning standards to outdoor experiences and environmental education. Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences (MWEEs) are a frame for planning multidisciplinary units including math, science, and social studies, that connect a scientific or social phenomena in the community to in-classroom learning and outdoor/environmental education. Despite the name, learning opportunities do not have to be limited to waterways and aquatic habitats--most environmental issues will qualify. Training goes over the essential components of this kind of unit planning, and helps assess where and when MWEEs might be appropriate for your classroom.
